Clock Professor — Support
An app for learning to read an analogue clock by turning the hands with a finger. There is no advertising.
Frequently asked questions
What age is it for?
Roughly five to eight years old. The dividing line is whether a child can read two-digit numbers. The free part only needs the numbers 1 to 12, so a child can start in their last year of nursery. Course names never mention a school year. Children who take longer are welcome to use it at their own pace.
What order does it go in?
It starts with “Have a go”: two rooms holding just the short hand, and just the long hand, with no score and nothing to get wrong. After that come five courses — O'clock, Thirty minutes, Every five minutes, Every minute, and Clock maths. Courses can be taken in any order. Nothing is locked behind finishing the one before it.
How much can I use for free?
The two rooms and the first two courses (O'clock and Thirty minutes) are free, along with reading aloud in the device voice, sound, and stickers. A single purchase opens the other three courses, recording a parent's voice, and the record of what your child can already read. There is nothing to pay every month.
What happens when a child gets it wrong?
Nothing is taken away, and no cross is shown. A soft sound plays, and the child can try as many times as they like. There is no time limit either.
What is “a parent's voice”?
It replaces the reading-aloud voice with your own. You record the words for the time and a few short phrases, one piece at a time. There is no need to finish all of them before it works. Each piece takes effect as soon as it is recorded, and only that part changes. Recordings are stored only on the device.
There is no sound
Please check that the device is not silenced and that the volume is up. The App stays silent while the device is set to silent. On iPhone, please also check the switch on the side of the device.
Which languages does it support?
Eight: Japanese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. The language of the screens your child sees is chosen in Settings (screens for adults follow the device language). In every language the time is read as plain numbers.
I cannot open the settings
So that a child does not change things by accident, settings and purchases sit behind a check for adults (one multiplication question). Enter the answer to continue.
What about changing to a new device?
From the settings you can export a single file holding the parent's voice, learning records, stickers and settings. Import it on the new device and everything continues from where it was. Purchase information is not included in that file, so please use “Restore Purchase” on the new device.
